FAQs

Navigating mental health care and insurance can be challenging.
That's why we've answered the most commonly asked questions from members.

How do my insurance benefits work?

î €

During your free Info Call, we’ll get your insurance information and check whether Nema is in-network with your plan. If it is, we can bill insurance companies directly for treatment.

Any costs you’re responsible for—like a copay (a set fee per visit) or coinsurance (a percentage you share with your insurer)—depend on your specific plan. We’ll explain how it works for you, and you can always reach out with questions.

How soon can I begin?

î €

You can choose when to begin with Nema. Most people start within 1–2 weeks of reaching out, though sooner appointments are often available.

Before treatment begins, you’ll have an Intake Evaluation with a licensed clinician. This helps confirm that Nema is the right fit and allows us to create your personalized treatment plan, including matching you with your therapist.

What happens during an Info Call?

î €

Your first step with Nema is a free Info Call.  In this call, you’ll learn about our treatment model, what to expect from the process, and we’ll check your insurance eligibility and benefits. Same-day appointments are usually available.

During your Info Call, we’ll also schedule your next step: an Intake Evaluation with a therapist.

What therapeutic approach do you use?

î €

Nema’s intensive care model delivers evidence-based treatment for PTSD including Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) and EMDR or Prolonged Exposure when needed. Our treatment works by helping trauma survivors rewire how they think so they can see themselves in the world in a healthier way. Nema teaches survivors how to challenge and modify unhelpful beliefs related to their trauma so they can find a sense of safety in the world. Our treatment is firmly rooted in research and leads to reduction of symptoms in more than 90% of patients.

Can my family be involved in my treatment?

î €

While our intensive treatment is delivered one-on-one, we offer all patients the opportunity to book a Family Session. During this session, your therapists will help teach your family member a bit about PTSD and how it may impact their relationship with you. Through psychoeducation, we will let your family member know how to best support you during our intensive treatment and beyond.

Is it required that I attend therapy sessions multiple times per week?

î €

While some providers do Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) one time per week for a period of ~3 months, we believe in helping you find healing as soon as possible. That's why we require our patients attend sessions with their therapist 2-3 times per week. Studies have shown that intensive treatment results in rapid symptom reductions that are sustained over time.
