Here at Nema, we base our treatment on cutting edge research in the treatment of PTSD. Our leadership team is composed of clinicians who have dedicated years in the field working with those who suffer from PTSD. Additionally, we have been so lucky to call Dr. Kate Chard—the founder of the gold standard treatment for PTSD (CPT)—one of our trusted advisors. Today, we are excited to announce that we are adding another trailblazer in the PTSD world to our team. We are so excited to introduce Dr. Debra Kaysen as one of our new clinical advisors!
Dr. Kaysen has brought her expertise in the treatment of traumatized populations to both research, and clinical settings. As a clinical psychologist, Dr. Kaysen has conducted critical studies on treatment of PTSD across a variety of trauma-exposed populations including sexual minority women, Native Americans, sexual assault survivors, torture survivors, active duty military. Her studies have reached across various settings, from low and middle-income countries to primary care and rural environments.
Dr. Kaysen has also been dedicated to exploring different modalities of treatment, such as telephone-based, web-based, and massed interventions. Dr. Kaysen has added critical knowledge to the field of PTSD treatment. As a result, she is also a leader in the clinical community. She is a Past President of the International Society for Traumatic Stress Studies.
Dr. Kaysen’s impressive research has been funded by prominent institutions such as National Institute of Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism, the National Institute of Drug Abuse, the National Institute on Minority Health and Health Disparities, and the Department of Defense.
We are so thrilled that she has joined our team! If you want to hear more, we cannot recommend enough hearing from Dr. Kaysen herself on This American Life.
