Q&A

What inspired you to become a therapist?

In college, I took a neuropsychology class where I learned about the connection between the brain and behavior, which hooked me on psychology. After I graduated, I knew I wanted to help others improve their well-being, so I worked for several years in social services, advocating for people and connecting them to resources that helped change their lives. I enjoyed this work immensely, but knew I wanted to be directly involved in improving their mental health, so I went back to school to my get master’s degree to become a psychotherapist.

What do you feel are your greatest strengths?

I provide a compassionate and safe environment for the individuals I work with; you can share things with me that you've never shared with anyone else, without fear of judgment. I also pride myself on helping clients stick to their goals; processing traumatic events is not easy and sometimes we need someone to help us remember our motivation and keep going. Β  Β

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

Clients can expect to feel supported and heard in sessions. Β They will take with them a sense of accomplishment at what they have achieved as well as the skills they need to be their own therapist when not in session. Β Most importantly, clients can expect to take away a feeling of relief; "I feel like a weight has been lifted off of me" is a comment I hear over and over from clients. Β
