Q&A

What inspired you to become a therapist?

In college, I took a neuropsychology class where I learned about the connection between the brain and behavior, which hooked me on psychology. After I graduated, I knew I wanted to help others improve their well-being, so I worked for several years in social services, advocating for people and connecting them to resources that helped change their lives. I enjoyed this work immensely, but knew I wanted to be directly involved in improving their mental health, so I went back to school to my get master’s degree to become a psychotherapist.

What do you feel are your greatest strengths?

I provide a compassionate and safe environment for the individuals I work with; you can share things with me that you've never shared with anyone else, without fear of judgment. I also pride myself on helping clients stick to their goals; processing traumatic events is not easy and sometimes we need someone to help us remember our motivation and keep going.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

Clients can expect to feel supported and heard in sessions.  They will take with them a sense of accomplishment at what they have achieved as well as the skills they need to be their own therapist when not in session.  Most importantly, clients can expect to take away a feeling of relief; "I feel like a weight has been lifted off of me" is a comment I hear over and over from clients.
